Devere Group's reply to:

Devere Group in Bangkok, Krung Thep - Acting unprofessional against my wishes resulting in losses to my account

Moved from excellent deVere Indonesia to deVere Thailand. My consultant was more interested in selling me other products that acting on my instructions. He would take up to three months to follow-up on an instruction, resulting in losses to me. I ended up buying shares when they had risen. When I finally left deVere Thailand, this character called me three months later and told me he was proceeding with an instruction of mine, which I had instructed him to make three months prior. This advisor had no idea I have already left deVere. He then proceeded to write me emails thanking me for being "professional". Me, his client, has to act professional due to his incompetence.

Devere Group in Greater London, England - Customer service

I am in the position of having little idea of what is happening to what is happening to my investment portfolio, despite various written reminders. deVere has closed end 2012 its office in Belgium, and since then four different advisors, all sitting in London, were successively assigned to me, which somehow complicated the communication. I recently raised questions about latest valuations showing unclear, and so far unexplained, accounting movements and positions. Early september, I asked for a letter signed at managerial level clarifying the situation and telling me when and how it will be regularized in case. At least I would expect a phone appointment.

Devere Group's reply to:

Devere Group - Best keep your money stuffed in a mattress

Well having paid into a retirement plan up to 2005, I finally caught up with de Vere in 2015 (email via contact us on their website eventually yields results). The long and short of it is that the fees exceed the investment revenue and in fact I've lost money in real terms. To add insult to injury the "adviser" stated that it wasn't worth his while looking after my account. On the plus side de Vere didn't deny my account existed (I'd heard that story from former colleagues) but as far as investment advisers go a High Street bank would serve you better.

Devere Group in Basel, Basel-Stadt - A disapointing experience

Although I was recommended DeVere group I had a disapointing experience. Based in Basel Switzerland, over a period of 18 months I had 3 different account managers. I was never informed and had to find out afterwards. Quarterly updates and half yearly meetings were promised in reality I had to push for receiving updates and advise. When I moved abroad I authorized and signed for a portfolio change, which was never executed. I have taken the management of my protfolio into my own hands until I find a better and more reliable partner. I am sure DeVere Groups is a leading company in its field, but it is as good as the customer facing people it hires and I did not have a good experience. I hope this is of help.

Devere Group in Bendorf, Rheinland-Pfalz - Personal Pension-investments-ex-pat deVere Germany

I have been a client of deVere Germany for four plus years. Having withdrawn my pension from the UK as part of the QROPS arrangement I was totally reliant on our advisor(s) for advice and detailed explanations of how investing my pension would work. Sadly, I am in the position of having little to no idea what is happening with my investment portfolio. I have had little to no communication since "Nathan" who did at least bother to visit and prepare in advance. Changes in the investment managers have never been communicated nor have changes in advisors so I am informed when a complete stranger calls to tell me Nathan, Malcolm, Bianca have moved on......and they have taken over my portfolio...All who have been disinterested, ill-prepared-not having looked at the various funds before talking to me and generally extremely uncommunicative. Most of the time the advisor calls my husband and is unable to differentiate between my portfolio/pension and his-despite having it spelt out repeatedly over the years. I have had nothing by email or in writing to update or inform me and so it feels like my pension has been swallowed up into a black hole with no evidence of any pro-activity or client care. As a teacher with the high level of accountability levied at me today, I find the service you have given me at best disappointing-in reality non-existent.

Devere Group's reply to:

Devere Group in Shanghai, Shanghai - Started off well - but the Commission Got Paid!

DeVere I was recommended to by a friend, and initially I was very happy with the service. However, when my financial advisor left I was palmed off onto 4 very disinterested advisers in Shanghai. All the subsequent advisors I got only wanted to sell me more product to get their commission and were not interested in managing my existing account. This is a major problem with the commission is paid in advance to the "selling" advisor. To date I have been left stranded by deVere, with my now substantial investment floating. My opinion is this advisory firm does not care about its clients after a product has been sold. Also many of its advisors seem inexperienced and only want to sell products for commission rather than speak to "real" investment strategies and professionally managing your funds. Treat deVere with extreme caution.

Devere Group Training Review from Phatthaya, Chon Buri

Well I have read some rubbish about what people are saying about devere group I have just sat one of there traing courses and unfortunately failed the last hurdle which is a big disappointment to me as I was so looking forward to working for this highly professional company.I have been a top salesman for 38 years and know I would of been very successful with this company.let me assure everyone the training is not easy and run very strictly and professional and all new people are checked out thoroughly and as with regards to salarys they are geared to sales but most important of all to on going training and exams. No company c an be bullet proof and a few bad apples will slip through look at governments aroind the world its called human nature.if you have a problem im sure that if your polite and go aroind it the right way the company providing it's a genuine mistake will rectify it good luck to all the new starters that made it peter dauganno

Devere Group in Hong Kong, Hong Kong - Costumer unable to get in touch with Devere

Most reviews on seems to be answered with following wording from devere: "We have successfully provided over 3,500 clients in Hong Kong with trusted financial planning services. We have an excellent relationship with our clients who have regularly reported that they are satisfied with the professional service and support we provide them with. It is true to say that a few consultants did leave us to start Taylor Brunswick.Whilst they were working there were mistakes made however, we have now rectified those issues and are pleased to confirm that our Hong Kong office is stronger than ever." Well I hope you didn't count me as one of the 3500 clients you have "successfully" provided over, or regard your "relationship with me as "excellent". In fact to my dismay, i have been trying for a year via various channels to get in touch with you, so far unsuccessful. After losing a lot of money i had invested with devere, partly due to bad advise and partly due to huge fees, i lost pulled out as much as i could without being penalized. With a 50% loss i might add. Now my complain is not about my losses, nor about how the fee structure or "lock-in" mechanism was explained in a misleading way. I simply let i go and kept the remaining 25% of my initial portfolio with devere, as i would have had to pay a large sum of money if i withdrew the rest within the first 8 years. My gripe is that for the past year or more i've tried to get in touch with Devere, but they wont reply emails or phone calls. I finally decided to go to their office, which according to their website now had moved to central building on Pedder st. (from Wyndham st where i used to come). Much to my surprise it is a satellite office with no Devere employees there at all (so much for "our Hong Kong office is stronger than ever"). A rather unhelpful girl in the reception gave me an email address to contact. The email was a anonymous Gmail and not a Devere mail which further raised suspicion. The girl refused or couldn't provide me with a phone number so this was my only option. After sending an email i did receive a No-number call from a guy who said he was about to board an aircraft and would call me the following Monday. I have not received such call 3 weeks after. I cannot believe that Devere would treat costumers like this, and while i'm still hoping to hear from them, i am now considering legal action in an effort to recover my investments with Devere. So frustrating and unnecessary...

Devere Group Independent Pension Plan Review from London, Ontario

Until a few months ago, I was a fairly satisfied client of deVere. My wife and I had had a small plan for several years. Performance was not stellar, but we felt good about regularly investing. When I was transferred to Singapore, I needed to set up an independent pension plan. My deVere agent was very accommodating to very quickly set up a 18 year, $2300 per month plan. I signed the forms at a cafe on my way to catch a plane to Singapore. Two years passed and $50 k was invested. Recently, I noticed that the fees were elevated and started asking questions. I found out the following: 1) deVere cannot legally do business in Singapore. This troubling as my agent had full knowledge I was moving to Singapore. 2) The surrender value of my account is less than $10 k!!! When questioned, my account manager (in Jakarta) immediately produced copies of the contracts I signed. Big red flag here that the first response was to start covering his behind. I was sold an investment. The fee structure as well as the fact that I would surrender a majority of that investment if I decided to withdraw early was not discussed during the "sale" of my policy. In seems to have been a "don't ask, don't tell" sales tactic. I would have never committed to the deVere policy had I known or understood the terms. They are excessive and beyond reasonable. In my opinion, my deVere agent deliberately hid the full details of the policy. I now consider that investment a loss. Posting on this site may do nothing. But I walk in a lot of expat circles in South East Asia. Most social gatherings always have discussions on expat benefits and retirement plans. DeVere gets a very poor recommendation from me.
