Devere Group in Shah Alam, Selangor - Not responsive, changing consultants every few months
I have been with Devere for 2 years, now 6 consultants changed over this time, starting again each time. Though most of them have been decent other than a few drunkards. Now my most recent one is MIA and no response from the local office in Malaysia ! I tried to email, call, etc.. nothing. Their phone line just says they are busy, no response on email as well. Also getting tired of the turn over as it is getting pretty ludicrious having so many consultants in just 2 years. I have invested alot of my retirement with these guys and they surely have made some money. Typical financial guys

Devere Group - DeVere Shanghai- Kevin the Ref moonlighting as Advisor
My Generali education fee plan was doing fine until 2011 when Kevin became my advisor. I was over the fact my wife and I had been miss sold by our first advisor, and really hopped he would be someone we could trust. He told us about his lengthy experience with HSBC and of being an international football ref and my wife and I were smitten. Kevin enthusiastically told us that under his management our policy would realize returns of "7-9%" per year. We were ecstatic since at the time he took over we had only seen a 2% return. Which was fine with us since we were happy not losing money like so many of our friends. Yet after a year under his management,it became apparent that he was merely a referee moonlighting as a financial advisor/salesman. Every visit with was a repeat of the previous. So much that my wife and I laughed in anticipation of his visit and his trademarked verbage. "Markets are flying! This is the perfect time to be in the market." which was always followed by a pitch to invest more or for a new fund. For the first few visits, he was more than entertaining and a good chat. Yet I started to doubt his optimism, when markets, and our plan, were obviously not flying. Yet we gave him benefit of doubt, and in the hopes things would turn around in the coming months. They didn't! Our policy was down 10%, yet he kept up the song and dance. It came to the point that during our review meetings, he spoke very little about our policy but more about upcoming football games and his newest "philanthropy" of teaching Chess at the local international schools. Which after meeting with the vice principal of our child's school, we found out his Chess classes weren't truly an act of "philanthropy". He was being paid to teach or "coach" the classes. Two months later we switched to another firm. It became obvious Kevin was more interested in being a ref and "chess coach", than helping us reach our financial goals. We occasionally still see him in the community. My wife and I still think he's a nice guy and a great ref , but not a real financial advisor. This is our second and LAST DeVere advisor who proved to be merely a salesman playing the part of a financial advisor.
Devere Group in Tokyo, Tokyo - Devere consults so THEY make more money putting plans fees on you
Went to Devere Tokyo, Japan. Got advised on a Zurich Plan, targeting retirement savings fitting my international life. that is in retrospect OK for me. Once the contract is signed, then I got only always extremely slow support and bad consulting on maintenance of the plan. They advised on temporarily increase the monthly premium and reducing them afterward when I need more cash. Which I did since it sounded right. The thing that they didn't tell me is that the yearly fees are roughly proportional to the max ever paid monthly payment. So by temporarily doubling my monthly payment (just for a year), I doubled my yearly fees for the plan for the next 25 years (till maturity of the plan). Thanks, this gonna be several thousand dollars wasted in fees. Sure, I should have read the contract at the fee section by myself more in details... All in one, Devere was not an actual scam company for me, they didn't do illegal stuff, but it was close. I never felt secure with them. And my feelings were confirmed right. I just moved to a local financial adviser, and everything MUUUUCH better. Still painful to see the over-inflated yearly fees taking their tall. Devere = Avoid.
Devere Group - Not all crooks - but their are some
Before moving back to the U.K (from China) I was repeatedly called by one persistent salesman asking me to meet his boss. Eventually, after losing the battle of saying NO I agreed and was subjected to the biggest load of drivel I have ever heard. The salesman was late, smelled of alcohol and despite my stating that I wanted to invest under 500GBP he told me that it "wasn't in his interest" if I didn't go over this. Needless to say I was not impressed and took this to a higher level. In turn I met the district boss who was very charming, very knowledgeable and answered all my questions. He even reduced my investment by 100GBP and explained why in the long run this helps. Was this a sales technique....I don't know. Was I being conned....I am not sure. If I was then its a great skill to plan this to perfection. I am happy with my investment, although I have moved and my advisor has moved cities I would recommend them - but not all of them. You always get one bad egg in a carton....just don't disregard the rest.
DeVere Group - Hypocritical blogs of mis-selling by other companies on the deVere website
Yes this is true, two faced deVere Group openly write blogs on their website which comment on the unfortunate mis-selling activities of other companies, most of them not even in the same industry as themselves. Check out their website where they openly report on the mis-selling activities of British Gas, Lloyds Bank, HSBC Bank, Barclays Bank, RBS, Bank of America, Blue Arrow, Staffline, Acorn, Taskmaster, Randstad, Meridian, Pacific Continental Securities (PCS), Alliance & Leicester. And the list goes on and on. This is designed to deflect from their own financial activities which are grossly mis-sold by their band of untrained and unlicensed financial advisors. Beware, if you deal with this company you will be CONNED, they have no shame in lying to you, and your hard earned savings will disappear into the abyss. The net is closing in on this company, I wonder if they will write blogs on their own mis-selling activities.

Devere Group - It's a scam
I signed up to a Devere scheme where I pay GBP300 per month into a Generalli fund which they then advise me on. Their commission is the first 2 years payments and during these first 2 years they keep in touch and give you loads of "advice" about which funds are best for your investments which I think they work out by sticking a pin in a list. After 2 years, their fee is safe and you get the occasional call from them to pump you for names of your contacts that they might be able to rip off. I am pretty gutted that I was *** enough to fall for it and that it took me so long to realise that they know no more about these investments that anyone else.
Devere group from an employees perception ( Dont fall for the trap)
not going to write an essay or anything straight to the point. Everything the Devere group say is a fraud.. there is no real incentives. its like working being imprisioned in a cell with no window no travel cost or accomodations included. they say Visa takes 3 months and it is done on purpose so you have to spend money from your own pocket.. PLease and i beg my following job hunters who seem to be interested in this so called opportunity of a life time to NOT GO AHEAD WITH IT. if something sounds to good to be true then it probably isnt.
Devere Group in Munich, Bavaria - I'm being harassed by DeVere
DeVere do not get the memo. Back in April, their then regional manager Mark Swann promised, in writing: "As requested we have instructed our internal team to place you on our DNC (do not call) list. This should ensure your contact details which we used will never be called by our teams." Clearly Marbella-based Matthew Smith did not get the memo. He called me today (the number 040 67 55 9547 showed up on my phone but he was actually calling from a noisy call center in Spain). This company is harassing me. They use high-pressure sales techniques and do not take NO for an answer.
